CHAIRMAN Julie Wade, welcomed members to the October meeting and reminded everyone to buy their tickets for the Christmas workshop with Bill Dixon on November 21 and for the Christmas Lunch on December 2.
Julie then introduced the demonstrator for the afternoon, Sue Maddocks from Halifax.
The title of Sue’s demonstration was ‘autumn leaves’ and Sue proceeded to entertain us and educate us with stories of about her life while giving us plenty of tips and advice about flowers arranging.
Sue produced a beautiful display of designs inspired by the wonderful colours of autumn. The vote of thanks was given by Sally Dabbs.
The members’ competition was entitled ‘fruits of the earth’ and the winners of the various classes are as follows: Novices and New Members: 1. Sally Dabbs; 2. Lynne Picken; 3. Lorraine Dorsett Intermediate: 1. Lillie Gradel; 2. Felicia Dykstra Advanced: 1. Marilyn Makepeace-Warne; 2. Phyllis Stuffins Premier: 1. Pat Bannister; 2. Joan Wilkinson; 3. Jill Todd The next meeting will take place on Wednesday, 18th November, at Plumley Village Hall at 2.00 pm when National Demonstrator, Ian Lloyd, will demonstrate with the title ‘A Cheshire Christmas’. The title of the Members’ competition is ‘Wired for Effect’. Home made mince pies will be served after the meeting. Visitors are welcome at a charge of £6.00.
