Cranford WI by Sue Patterson
Mrs Eileen Podmore, the co-president, welcomed the members to this month’s meeting of Cranford WI.
She began the meeting by announcing that tickets were on sale for the members’ lunch and the Christmas lunch. Members were reminded that the autumn group meeting will be on Saturday 24 October. Dorothy Drinkwater gave details of two outings organised by Crosstown WI. Nominations were invited for next year’s committee.
After the business had been dealt with, the president introduced the speaker, Judith Shirley. Judith is a gifted needlewoman and had brought with her materials for members to make a Christmas decoration. She showed great patience with all our efforts and by the end of the meeting everyone had produced a lovely Christmas tree decoration.
Judyth Fryer, the vice-president, gave the vote of thanks.
Hazel Waller won the raffle and the competition result was 1. Eileen Podmore; 2. Pat Sandford; 3. Dorothy Drinkwater.
The next meeting will be the members’ lunch and AGM on November 4, at 1pm in the Jubilee Hall, Knutsford.
