High Legh WI by Janis Brind

President, Norma Wright welcomed everyone to the September meeting of High Legh WI recently. The flowers for her table, arranged by Joyce Brow, were given to a long standing member Pat Brereton, as it was her birthday. Speaker for the evening were from CAFT, Children’s Adventure Farm trust. Graham and Mary are volunteers at the farm in Millington. Graham explained how the farm started and progressed through 30 years. Its objective is to help disabled children to enjoy a relaxed holiday in many ways by bonding with animals, playing music and painting. The talk was accompanied by a video, it was very moving and informative.

High tea at High Legh celebrating the WI centenary in August was a successful afternoon and enjoyed by all.

Members were given a book on the history of High Legh WI written by member Jenny Pearce.

Christmas is coming so the craft group are starting to make Christmas tree decorations. Several members had a thoroughly enjoyable trip to Harrogate Centennial Fair. The competition for a small animal ornament was won by Sue Edwards.

The next meeting is on October 13 at 7:30pm in the Village Hall, with Our Friendly Garden by Robin with David Tideswell.
