Co-president, Pam Cowburn welcomed members and guests to the August meeting of Cranford WI.
This years Cheshire Show entry was on display in the hall. The lunch club will meet on August 26, at 12.30 in the Court Yard Cafe. Members were reminded that the WI exhibition at the Knutsford Heritage Centre opened on August 4 and will run until September 27.
Pam introduced the guest speaker, Alan Hayhurst, who gave a most interesting talk about banking in the 1950's and 1960's. He told members that he had originally wished to be a chemist but his school careers master persuaded him that banking was the career for him. Judging by the amusing anecdotes he shared with members it was a decision he had never regretted. Judyth Fryer gave the vote of thanks.
The next meeting will be on September 2, at 2pm in the Jubilee Hall, Knutsford. New members and guests are always welcome.
