Goostrey Flower Club by Sue Mansfield

On a hot, sunny afternoon Chairman, Marilyn Lloyd, welcomed members and visitors to Goostrey Village Hall for a demonstration entitled 'Treasures of Art Revealed' by Dawn Weaver, an Area Demonstrator from Chester.

Prior to the demonstration, Marilyn read out the notices which included reminders of the summer lunch on August 13 and asked members for donations of bottles and gifts for the tombola. Raffle tickets are still available for £1, proceeds go towards the new scout hut in Goostrey and the prize is afternoon tea for two at The Yellow Broom. Sally Dyke will be taking orders at the July meeting for NAFAS diaries, calendars and Christmas cards.

Dawn, an art lover, gave a wonderful demonstration, which included exhibits based on Picasso, Andy Goldsworthy, Faberge, Kandinsky and Chinese Imperial Court art that can be seen at Compton Verney in Warwickshire. The vote of thanks was given by Dorothy Monks and the foyer flowers were by Barbara Hides.

The Summer Bounty competition results: Intermediate 1. Eve Anderton. 2. June Sulej. Advanced 1. Barbara Hides. 2. Sylvia Spurrell. Advanced Plus 1. Joan Wilkinson. 2. Dorothy Monks. 3. Anne Russell. Very highly commended Maureen Layzell.

The next meeting will be on July 9, at 2pm for 2.30pm at Goostrey Village Hall when Arthur McDonald will give his demonstration entitled 'Let Joy be Undefined'. Visitors most welcome.
