MEMBERS Of Dane Valley Group WI enjoyed a lovely evening in Goostrey Village Hall recently. ‘The History Wardrobe’ presented ‘Agatha Christie and Art Deco’, an innovative way of combining the ‘Life and Crimes of Agatha Christie’ with beautiful Art Deco costumes of the 1920s and 30s.

Lucy and Merry set up a murder mystery, choosing a victim from the audience and acting out all the suspects by changing costumes and character. There were many red herrings and double bluffs.

Costumes were authentic and both ladies walked among the audience so members could have a closer look. The correct suspect was identified and it was a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Lucy and Marry were thanked by a member from Holmes Chapel WI.

President Josie Sykes welcomed members and guests from Knutsford, Forest, Cloud and Vale Royal groups and thanked hosts, Lower Withington WI. She thanked Swettenham WI for the flowers and Astbury WI for the refreshments. Josie also thanked Dorothy Fox, retiring treasurer, for all her hard work.

Two members attended a course at Denman College to learn silk scarf printing; they subsequently held two classes to pass skills on to other members.

Pat Ingram told of the holiday that the group had enjoyed in the Lake District. The competition ‘A piece of Art Deco’ was won by Goostrey WI. County Chairman Frances Woollam thanked Dane Valley on behalf of all guests.
