PRESIDENT Virginia Williamson welcomed members and two guests to the April meeting.
Since last month's meeting several members enjoyed a walk in Plumley with lunch at The Pheasant Inn and the Darts Team made it to the final of a recent competition.
Future events were discussed including Plumley Village Hall Fete on Saturday, June 27 and the Cheshire Federation of Women's Institutes' 95th birthday celebrations at Gawsworth Hall on Wednesday, July 8. There will also be a theatre trip to the Garrick Theatre on May 23 to see Stepping Out.
This month's speaker was Louise Jenkins from Hotter Shoes and members enjoyed learning more about the brand's history and growth. We were interested in the different samples she brought with her and one member was lucky enough to win a free pair of shoes.
The next meeting will be held on Monday, May 11 where our speaker will be John van Suchtulen who will be giving a talk entitled 'Bees in Britain'. The competition will be: a honey pot.
The winner of this month's competition was Pam Willox, with Betty Jones as runner-up. The Bloom Competition was won by Betty Jones, with second place going to Sandra Youngson.
New members and guests are always welcome.
