Plumley WI by Christine Barwell
President Virginia Williamson welcomed members to the March meeting of Plumley WI. Several members had enjoyed a walk at Dunham Massey and a county walk at Mouldsworth.
Future events were discussed including a walk at Little Budworth on March 19 and a meeting of the craft group on March 11. Knutsford Heritage Centre are planning an exhibition entitled 'WI inspiring women for 100 years' and members are helping with exhibits.
Guest speaker for the meeting was Karen Pudner, who gave an interesting talk about her work volunteering with Manchester Girl Geeks; an organisation which aims to encourage girls and women to be more interested in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM)).
Member were fascinated to hear about the variety of talks, show and tell sessions and workshops that have taken place, as well as the Bar Camps, which are conferences with no booked speakers where anyone can turn up and talk about a STEM subject that they are interested in.
The next meeting will be held on Monday, April 13, with guest speaker Louise Jenkins. The competition will be: a shoe horn.
New members and guests are always welcome.
