Members were welcomed to the recent meeting of Plumley WI by Virginia Williamson. Since their last meeting there have been enjoyable visits to Oswaldtwistle Mill and Gawsworth Hall.

There is a County walk at Chester on January 14, and a walk at Little Budworth on January 29 followed by lunch at the Egerton Arms. The craft group are meeting on January 21 to make needle cases.

Guest speakers for the month were Janet Chisholm and Hillary Jones from Middlewich Clean Team who gave an inspirational and motivating talk about the work they have done in their local community over the last 12 years. As well as tackling litter problems, they also give talks to nurseries and schools and organise the planting of bedding plants and bulbs in the local area. They have over 200 members.

Lynn Barber won the monthly competition. Chris Buckley won the Bloom competition and Betty was the runner up.

The next meeting is on Monday, February 2, with speaker Susan Leicester who will entertain with her humourous monologues. The competition is for a 'prettily wrapped present'. New members are always welcome.
