Chairman, Julie Wade welcomed members and visitors to the meeting of Knutsford and District Flower club and reminded members Christmas lunch is on Wednesday, December 3, the title of the competition will be A Song for Christmas.
She introduced national demonstrator, Bill Dixon with his demonstration A Touch of Frost. Bill’s first arrangement incorporated Christmas tree shapes covered in green and white felted wool, finished with pink roses, liatris and ornamental cabbages.
He proceeded to fill the stage with stunning arrangements using blooms such as red and orange gerbera, roses, gloriosa lilies and orchids, displayed in a variety of crafted containers and structures.
The members’ competition was Let’s Dance and as always, there were many wonderful entries. The winners were, novices and new members: 1. Jackie Page; 2. Lorraine Dorsett; 3. Felicia Dykstra. Intermediate: 1. Phyllis Stuffins; 2. Marilu Knowles; 3. Ruth Blockley. Advanced: 1. Julie Wade; 2. Marilyn Makepeace-Warne. Premier: 1. Joan Wilkinson; 2. Pat Bannister; 3. Dorothy Monks.
The next full club meeting is on Wednesday, January 21, at 2pm at Plumley Village Hall with demonstrator Jackie Walker from Bury with Structures With Style. The members’ competition will be Now for Something Different. Visitors welcome at a charge of £6.
