Chairman of Dane Valley Group WI's, José Sykes welcomed members and guests from the Cloud, Knutsford, Vale Royal and Forest Groups, Sally Dyke, Group Adviser and Veronica Gough and Judith Kennedy from the Board of Trustees. She also welcomed back guide dog in training, Maevey, who as usual behaved perfectly.

The entertainment was provided by Clare O’Neill with a presentation 'Magic Moments from Musical Theatre' . Clare told how she had hoped to take up performing in musicals but was told she had an opera voice, not a stage voice. She regaled with several numbers from her favourite musicals, including an aria from Madame Butterfly.

Lower Withington provided homemade cakes, Christmas cards and calendars were on sale; Sarah Greene ran a craft stall of creations for children; Holmes Chapel brought a handmade quilt to raffle in aid of the church roof fund.

Two minute reports were delivered and a report of the Group’s recent holiday. Goostrey won the competition for a colourful hand made scarf; the Bowls Fun Day Shield was won by Marion Taylor and Liz Hudson; Dane Valley bowls league trophy was won by Marton who also won the County Bowls Cup, presented by Veronica Gough, Cheshire Federation, Sports and Leisure Chairman.

Forthcoming events and holiday were announced and the Chairman was surprised and thrilled to receive a bouquet in celebration of her Golden Wedding.
