THE August meeting of Lower Withington WI was an evening visit to Tabley House in Knutsford.

Earlier in the year they had been given a talk by Donald MaCleod about the history of Tabley and everyone enjoyed it so much that they decided to visit a local venue for their annual evening visit.

Tabley House has a long and fascinating history and although just on the outskirts of Knutsford and bounded by busy roads there is still a feeling of what it was like in days gone by.

They were taken round the house and told about the furniture, artefacts and art which in many cases were made specially for Tabley.

Although part of the house is a retirement home, it does not impinge on the museum part on the first floor of the building.

There were a lot of things to look at and everyone will be going back again as the house is open to the public.

After the talk they enjoyed tea and cakes in the tearoom which was in a beautiful room.

The next meeting on September 24, is their Garden Meeting when Colin Parry will give a talk Evil to Good.
