VALE Royal and Knutsford Ramblers, 33 in all, set out on a very sunny Sunday in August, for four different walks from Entwistle, Lancashire.

Stuart Gardiner took the A Group from Chapeltown and headed to Edgworth Moor via Turton to meet the Rossendale Way.

They proceeded via Causeway Height to Broadhead Road and on to the Roman Road, before meandering around Edge Fold then following the Witton Weavers Way back to Chapelton having completed 16 miles and 2400 feet of ascent. Grahame Reid led the B Group via Wayoh and Turton & Entwistle reservoirs to Foxhill Plantation.

They then followed the Witton Weavers way over Turton Moor and eventually returned to their starting point having completed 12 miles and 1100ft of ascent.

Jennifer Southern set off from Chapeltown with the C Group on a walk that visited all three reservoirs including Jumbles, and into the steep sided valley of Turton Bottoms.

It took them through fields, woodland, and a waterfall before passing close by Turton Tower on their return, having completed nine miles and 1000 feet of ascent.

David Eyes and the D Group circumnavigated the Turton and Entwistle reservoir before following the Witton Weavers Way on their way to Turton Tower and then Turton Bottoms before returning to Entwistle via the Wayoh reservoir having completed seven miles.

All walkers enjoyed the good weather, scenery and well earned refreshments.
