Members of Knutsford and District Flower Club celebrated their 45th Anniversary, Sapphire, with an afternoon tea-party at Plumley Village Hall.

The theme for the afternoon was “Flower Power”, and the competition was entitled “Moody Blues”. Music from the 1960s was played during the meeting, which brought back many memories of the era during which the club was founded.

The winners of the competition are as follows — Novices and New Members: 1. Felicia Dykstra; 2. Marlene Priestley; 3. Dorothy Dutton. Intermediate: 1. Marilu Knowles; 2. Lynne Clark; 3. Lily Gradel. Advanced: 1. Liz Turner; 2. Marilyn Makepeace-Warne; 3. Linda Clowes. Premier: 1. Diana Jones; 2. Mary Marshall; 3. Pat Bannister.

The next meeting will take place at Plumley Village Hall on Wednesday, September 17, at 2.00pm. The demonstrator will be Zena Stone of Bolton with “Sensational Gardens”, and the title of the members’ competition will be “Garden Tapestry”. Visitors are welcome at 1.30pm for 2.00pm at a charge of £6.00.
