THE big news for Jodrell Side WI centred around the Cheshire Show results with all the hard work earlier in the year coming to fruition.

The group effort in the “Here Comes Summer” category got second place with two individual members; Sheila Wood and Diana Salmon getting full marks for their entries.

Marion Taylor got full marks for her silk printed scarf in the Natures Palette entry. Dagmar Barnes and Jean Alcock both got a third for their paintings.

Pat Ingram got second prize for her Yeast Bake.

In the “Seasons of Goodwill “ category Sylvia Bastain got a second for her metal work, Sheila Wood got a third for yarn craft, Diana Salmon got a third for embroidery.

There were also two Highly Commended; Pat Alston for fabric craft, Pat Ingram for embroidery and Pat Howitt got Commended for embroidery.

Their contribution to Rose Day was appreciated by the Rose Queen and her entourage who thanked Barbara Barnett and Jacquey Sutton for the lovely tea they provided.

The Bran Tub and Treasure Hunt also proved very popular with the children.

There is no meeting in August as they are off on their annual outing Hope House in Derbyshire.
