CRANFORD Quilters, pictured above, celebrated its 21st birthday with former members joining in the event and greetings were received from a founder member currently living in Australia.

A potted history of the group’s 21 years recalled how the Quilters began, the different venues where meetings were held, and exhibitions of members’ work in the Old Hall at Tatton Park, the Civic Centre, Knutsford Methodist Church, Knutsford Library and Knutsford Heritage Centre, together with the many workshops held either with one of the members or with an outside speaker, brought back many happy memories.

As usual there was a Show and Tell, where members showed their work. This time instead of just recently finished pieces, the display included early, as well as latest work, which was interesting to see how the Quilters had progressed.

Several members showing pieces from workshops done with the group in the past admitted that there were still plenty at home waiting to be finished.

Afterwards refreshments of a delicious spread of salad, strawberries and cream provided by the Committee were enjoyed, followed by the 21st birthday cake.

At the conclusion of the meeting, everyone was provided with a square of fabric and challenged to produce a quilt or wall hanging of 20 inch square incorporating the fabric, to be completed by the October meeting.

The results should provide a very interesting Show and Tell to see just how different the pieces of work are.
