CHAIRMAN Chris Williams, welcomed everyone and reminded members to bring bottles for the tombola next month for the garden party in August.

Cheshire Area is presenting a festival of flowers, ‘Last of the Summer Wine’ at Manor Farm, Byley and St John the Evangelist Church, Byley from September 26-28, from 10am to 6pm.

Our demonstrator, Karen Schofield, delighted the audience with her demonstration ‘garden Party’.

The members competition, The Heart of Summer’, results are: Novice: 2nd P Webster 3rd E Anderton Intermediate: 1st BHides, 2nd J Sulej Advanced: 1st Ann Turnock 2nd C Neil, 3rd M Layzell 4th S Spurrell Advanced Plus: 1st J Wilkinson 2nd D Monks, 3rd A Russell Foyer flowers were by Barbara Hides.

The next meeting will be on July 10 with Denise Hubbard and her demonstration ‘Travellers’ Tales’.

Meetings are held in Goostrey Village Hall and visitors are welcome to attend at 2pm for 2.30pm.

Knutsford and District Flower Club THE June meeting took place at Plumley Village Hall on Wednesday, June 18. The meeting was opened by the club chairman, Julie Wade. Julie began by informing members of the successes that club members had achieved at the Cheshire Show. The club was awarded a first prize in the Club Class where KDFC was represented by Julie Wade and Linda Clowes.

Club member Dorothy Monks was awarded a first prize for her entry to the Pedestal Class, entitled ‘Anniversary’ and also achieved third prizes in two further classes.

Two third prizes and a very highly commended were awarded to member Joan Wilkinson and a very highly commended was also achieved by Mary Marshall.

The members’ competition this month was entitled ‘Symphony of Flowers’ and the winners are as follows.

Dorothy Monks Julie then introduced the demonstrator for this month who was Linda Hardman from Preston and her title was ‘Look At It This Way’.

Linda, who is a professional florist, kept us entertained with anecdotes about some the jobs she has worked on and also provided us with many useful flower arranging tips.

She produced a colourful and beautiful display of flower arrangements using all manner of foliage and flowers, including seasonal peonies, delphiniums, dahlias and sunflowers.

The vote of thanks was given by Marilu Knowles.

The next meeting will take place at Plumley Village Hall at 2pm on Wednesday, July 16.

The demonstrator will be David Robertson of Rossendale and his title is ‘Glorious Summer’. The title of the members’ competition is ‘A Walk on the Wild Side’. Visitors are welcome at 1.30pm for 2pm and the charge for visitors is £6.
