THERE was a lovely atmosphere at Knutsford and District Lions annual street fair at the end of May.

It was helped by the good weather and large crowds and was supported by community and charity stalls.

The newly elected Town Mayor and May Queen judged the Best Dressed Stall. Around £450 has been raised recently by collecting foreign coins; unwanted foreign currency can be donated by leaving it at the Heritage Centre for collection. Unwanted spectacles can also be left there for recycling.

The club has made donations to Abbeyfield which will enable residents to go on a canal boat trip and to the Knutsford Community Transport Association towards the cost of repairs to the community bus. They have also contributed to the Balkan Floods appeal.

Members were delighted to receive a very generous cheque from the outgoing Town Mayor, Clr Barbara Coan, from funds raised during her year in office, for which they are extremely grateful. The 38th charter dinner was celebrated at Peover Golf Club, members were joined by the outgoing and incoming Town Mayors as well as friends of Lions.
