OVER 30 members of High Legh WI attended the May meeting, welcomed by President Norma Wright. The flowers for the president’s table were donated by Jean Atkinson and were given to secretary, Pam Higham who drew the lucky ticket.

The thought for the month from their New Zealand link is “when saving for old age, be sure to put away a few pleasant thoughts.”

Treasurer, Pat Sutton, read an amusing piece from the New Zealand Home and Country, it was all very appropriate as they recently had a visit from a member of Maunu, their link institute.

Jill Gover and husband Bruce who are on a tour of England spent a day with them. 20 members and some husbands, for Bruce’s benefit, went to a local pub for lunch. In the evening, Bruce went to play bowls and four members took Jill to a jewellery party.

Patricia Pimlott went to Denman on a baking course, using her bursary; she had a wonderful time and can’t wait to go again.

A visit to the Garrick Theatre was enjoyed by everyone. Outings lady, Marilyn Ridler is hoping to arrange a visit to Whitby in the near future.

The ramblers had a good walk in May and are off to Mobberley in June for a five and a half mile walk.

The resolution for organ donation was discussed and a very positive “yes” vote was recorded. Sue Edwards won the competition a pretty brooch.

The next meeting is on June 10, in the Village Hall. The speaker is Gill Young, Bag Lady.
