DESPITE the poor weather forecast, 29 brave ramblers made the journey to Tideswell in Derbyshire.

Mike Bromwich took his “A” group to the high ground above Tansley Dale with good views of Peter’s Stone. After passing through Wardlow they descended into Coombs Dale. Cressbook Dale, Millar’s Dale and Tideswell Dale followed in succession with a delightful spring showtime treat of wild flowers. The group completed 14 miles and 2300 feet of ascent.

Grahame Reid led the “B” group into Tideswell Dale and on to Millar’s Dale. They later joined the Monsal Trail leading them to Cressbrook Tunnel. They returned to the start via Cressbrook Dale and Ravensdale to complete 12 miles and 1,000 feet of ascent.

David Eyes led the “C” group through Peter Dale and on to Wormhill eventually joining the Monsal Trail to Litton Mill and returning to the start via Tideswell Dale having completed 7.5 miles.

Rosie McKenzie also did some dale hopping with her “D” group, visiting Monk’s Dale, Chee Dale and Millar’s Dale visiting St Anne’s Church Litton Mill and Ravenstar Crag on the way. They completed 7.5miles.

Despite the showers, everyone enjoyed a splendid day and celebrated in the Horse and Jockey pub before returning home.
