Pubs link up with police

THIRTEEN Knutsford pubs and bars have signed up to a new police initiative in a bid to to tackle alcohol-related crime.

The ArcAngel Initiative is a joint approach between Cheshire Police and agencies including local councils, Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service and NHS trusts to tackle alcohol-related crime, underage drinking and alcohol-related incidents in the town.

The scheme is being launched on Friday, October 26 in Canute Place between 3pm and 4pm.

Clr Vivien Davies, Mayor of Knutsford, will be presenting accreditation certificates, and there will be a police exhibition vehicle in the square from 4pm, when PCSOs and officers will talk with the public and hand out leaflets about ArcAngel.

The 13 premises involved are: Amber Lounge, Angel Hotel, Canvas Lounge, Cross Keys, Freemasons Arms, Knutsford Wine Bar, Lord Eldon, The Rose & Crown, The Five Oaks, The Falcon Bearer, The Lounge, The Old Sessions House and White Bear.

Having been assessed by Cheshire Police and Trading Standards the 13 premises have proved they are doing everything possible to ensure they reduce incidents of alcohol-related disorder and underage drinking.

Sgt Andy Miller, from Knutsford Police, said: “We have been impressed with the attitude and commitment of all the licensed premises in Knutsford which are involved.

“They have demonstrated that they care about the local community and are doing their part to ensure that Knutsford is a safe place to enjoy a night out.”

All 13 licensees are expected to be at the event, where they will be presented with their accreditation certificates and promotional packs.
