Hundreds attend harvest celebrations

SCOUTS and Guides teamed up to hold a harvest-themed celebration in Holmes Chapel on Sunday.

The service, held at St Luke’s, saw hundreds of Brownies, Guides, Scouts and Cubs get together to stage a service for the village.

Helped by the group’s leaders, the children played instruments and organised songs before leading the congregation to the new Scout hut for a lunch.

Village resident Sheila Buckley said: “It was fantastic to see these youngsters, and it was a really lovely service. There were hundreds who walked from the church to the Scout hut and it was like a procession.”
