Giant-sized story-telling at Brook Street Chapel

Michael Gibson with his own Green Knight – and the Green Man – at Knutsford Heritage Centre n124232
A ‘TERRIFYING’ giant will be star attraction at a Knutsford church this month.
The Green Knight from the 14th century poem Sir Gawain and the Green Knight is going to Brook Street Unitarian Chapel on October 20.
Knutsford poet Michael Gibson said: “The Green Knight in the story must relate in some way to the so-called ‘Green Man’ carvings in wood and stone that appear in many medieval churches.
“The ‘Jack in the Green’ in the Royal May Day procession must relate as well, and the story of the ‘Green Knight’ is a local one written in the Macclesfield Forest area.”
Michael has written his own translation of the tale, and will tell it partly in his own rhythmic style and in the ‘original language’.
