Reverend Rob speaks...

WHAT a great artisan market featuring the KMC Harvest. A fortnight ago, I heard that Princess Street was being closed.

I was worried about how elderly people could be brought to church and about access for the many young parents who attend our 10.45am services.

But, I felt it was important to be fully involved and to be positive about such an important day in our local community.

Meeting many people as a new Minister over coffee was great. A positive attitude can make such a difference.

Years ago I worked for Refuge Assurance, when one of my colleagues Mick, who was a very positive guy, received a call one morning.

The lady said: “Last night we heard a big bang during the night, so I said to my Ezra, go and have a look out of the window and see what you can see.

“He couldn’t see anything, so I told him to get back into bed.

“This morning, Ezra went downstairs, you’ll never guess what he found in our front room? A motor car! It had pushed the piano from the front window to the back door! What shall we do?”

Mick said: “Well, if I were you, I’d play the piano at the back of the room instead of the front.”

He always had a positive response in a negative situation. St Paul wrote ‘Rejoice in the Lord always, I will say it again rejoice” (Philippians 4:4). We have much to thank God for in life.
