Jeremy’s jazz numbers help centre funds
4:00pm Friday 12th October 2012 in News
AS part of their fundraising activities the Friends of Knutsford Heritage Centre held a musical event at the centre.
The Knutsford Tapestry, now back after repairs and reframing, made a splendid backdrop.
Jeremy Sassoon was the guest musician and started the evening with Way Over Yonder from Carole King’s aptly-named album Tapestry.
He entertained with a selection of jazz and blues numbers, accompanying his vocals with impressive keyboard playing.
He interspersed more familiar numbers with a few of his own compositions and explained how these were related to events in his own life.
He closed with two Ray Charles numbers and his interpretation of The Girl from Ipanema, the words of which he had changed to ‘The Girl from the Trafford Centre’.
Jeremy is well known at Knutsford Wine Bar, where he regularly entertains on a Sunday afternoon.
He also performs at gigs throughout Greater Manchester, has appeared on Jazz FM and recently performed at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club.
The Friends of Knutsford Heritage Centre play an essential role in raising funds for equipment and improving the visitor experience. Their next event is a quiz night on November 23.
