Film-maker up for award

KNUTSFORD-born filmmaker Jack Levy is urging people to support him when he presents his short film Under The Rug in Stockport.

The film is being shown at Screen Stockport Film Festival at 11.30am on Sunday, October 14, where Jack will be in the running for ‘Best Northwestern Film’.

Under The Rug is about a boy who accidentally kills his friend and his father’s reaction to it.

Jack filmed it at the home of his parents Mark and Wendy in Manor Park.

So far the short film has been selected for eight film festivals, including the London Independent Film Festival and the Staffordshire Film Festival, where it was nominated for Best UK Short Film.

It won an award for ‘Best Foreign Short Film’ at Amsterdam Film Festival and ‘Best Actor’ for Harry Sanger at Yellow Fever International Film Festival in Belfast.

Jack said: “The festival circuit has been really exciting, it’s been great fun travelling around these festivals watching loads of great shorts and meeting lots of other independent filmmakers.”
