WEATHER-wise, the Knutsford Jog, organised by the Rotary Club at the end of April, was a disaster.

There was torrential rain, a howling gale, and the temperature didn’t seem much above freezing.

Nevertheless, around 200 half drowned joggers took part in the event, shortened to 45 minutes due to the conditions, and raised more than £8,300 for various charities and good causes.

A cheque for more than £2,000 was donated to The Welcome, the Longridge-based community support centre, which recently received a Big Society Award from Prime Minister, David Cameron.

A similar amount was also donated to The Children’s Liver Disease Foundation.

A huge thank you is due to all those who helped to organise and run the event, and especially to those who still took part in spite of the weather and diligently collected their sponsorship money.

Preparations for Knutsford Jog 2013 are already under way. It will be on Sunday, April 21, with nominated beneficiaries, NSPCC ChildLine, and The Knutsford Royal May Day.
