Action group urges people to respond to town plan
9:00pm Thursday 27th September 2012 in News
THE Save Tatton Action Group (STAG) is calling on Knutsford residents to have their say on the future of the town as proposed by Cheshire East’s Draft Knutsford Town Strategy.
“We are urging people who have not already looked at the proposals for the future development of the town to 2030 to look now and make their comments known to the Council,” said a STAG spokesman.
"Knutsford Library has booklets and information available during library working hours or you can download the strategy from Cheshire East’s website.
“STAG isn’t telling people how to respond but want to make sure everyone takes the opportunity to respond.
“Cheshire residents have already had the council’s Tatton Vision foisted on them with no public consultation, which means we have had to fight to stop the development of the Norwich-based BeWILDerwood on Tatton’s precious farmland, ancient woodland, and parkland.
“That fight goes on as the planning application remains undecided almost six months after it was submitted back in April.”
STAG is also asking residents to contact Cheshire East councillors across the region to tell them about the BeWILDerwood plans.
“Over the summer we have been speaking to councillors representing wards across Cheshire East," she said.
"They are mainly unaware of the contentious nature of the application and the fact so many Cheshire East voters and businesses are against the plans.
“This is manifestly not the case. More than 400 objections to the plans have been registered with Cheshire East who are now having to comply with a lengthy section 22 letter which requires more environmental reports, a possible redesign of the scheme, and questions the 50 acre car park included.
“We also want people to make it clear that they do not want Tatton Park to be included in the Draft Knutsford Town Strategy as there is a real possibility that Cheshire East will somehow include the BeWILDerwood concept within the Draft Core Strategy for the region which will be produced early next year.”
Deadline for the submission of completed Draft Knutsford Town Strategy questionnaires is Monday, October 1.
