Plan team’s ‘frustration’ over town maps delay

TOWN officials are awaiting a quote from the borough authority before installing much-needed maps in Knutsford town centre.
The maps, which will showcase what the town has to offer, were first announced by the Knutsford Town Plan in January.
They have been created by Knutsford-firm Active Maps Ltd, and will be sited in six locations around Knutsford with the hope of encouraging Tatton Park users to take a walk into the town.
The panels include directions for restaurants, shops and things to do while in the town.
In the Guardian four weeks ago, Bill Gore, a member of the town plan group co-ordinating the work, said the delay was ‘frustrating’ for all those involved.
The town plan team is waiting for a quote from the highways team at Cheshire East Council for where the posts – which the maps will be placed on – can be installed in the town.
This week Steve McQuade, town clerk, told the Guardian he had met with highways officials from Cheshire East Council six weeks ago.
“They have control of what can be installed on the land and the position of where the posts can go,” he said.
“The latest is that they have agreed to give us a quote for the work, but we have yet to receive it.
“Once the quote has been received we can get the maps ready, but it’s a case of waiting at the moment.”
