A VILLAGE outside of Knutsford has honoured the achievement of the world’s Paralympic heroes by creating them in scarecrow form.

Scarecrows inspired by the London 2012 Games began turning heads in Crown Lane in Lower Peover at the beginning of August.

Now, with the success of the nation’s Paralympics team gripping the country, the new ‘recruits’ have been put in place in the village.

Sally Aspin and Elspeth Turner, who are involved with the Peover Scarecrow Festival, were commissioned by Cheshire East Council to come up with the designs.

Sally and Elspeth have been building scarecrows for about eight years, after being asked to help with the village’s flower festival.

For the Paralympic display the creations include a wheelchair athlete, South African silver medallist Oscar Pistorius and a team of rowers.
