Help to raise cash for charity with trek across county’s scenery
7:10pm Monday 3rd September 2012 in News
KNUTSFORD adventurers are being invited to turn a trek across Cheshire’s countryside into a lifeline for charity.
Residents can explore some of the county’s landmark scenes such as Cheshire’s highest point, Shining Tor, Lamaload Reservoir and historical structure White Nancy as part of ‘Hike the Hill’.
The event on October 13 is being organised by East Cheshire Hospice and Blythe House Hospice to mark World Hospice and Palliative Care Day.
Kirsty Daniels, events manager at East Cheshire Hospice, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for experienced walkers to take-on a real challenge whilst raising vital funds for their local hospice.
“So get those hiking boots at the ready and sign-up today to show your support.”
The 12-mile adventure is expected to take about six hours.
Meeting at 7.45am at Macclesfield leisure centre’s rear car park, walkers will be transported by Roy McCarthy Coaches to the Cat and Fiddle Inn, where they will begin their journey.
Arrival at East Cheshire Hospice will signal completion of the challenge, where hikers will be rewarded with some well-deserved refreshments as a ‘thank you’ for their much valued efforts.
An entry fee of £10 secures a place on the walk along with maps.
Walkers need to be experienced, and be willing to raise a minimum of £60 in sponsorship for East Cheshire Hospice.
To sign up visit eastcheshirehospice.org.uk or call the fundraising team on 01625 433477.
