Sarah’s campaigning for commissioner role
11:40am Friday 31st August 2012 in News
INDEPENDENT police commissioner candidate Sarah Flannery put on her campaigning rainwear when she met Pickmere residents at the Pickmere family fun day on Sunday.
Sarah is standing for election as Cheshire Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) on Thursday, November 15 She is a long-term supporter of the event – her husband Mike runs the Well Heeled Dog Club on a voluntary basis and organised the fun day’s dog show with money raised going towards charity, including the Wallace and Gromit Children’s Foundation, the Kennel Club charitable trust and village causes.
The event was hailed as a great success with a barbecue and bar, photographic and art exhibitions, children’s entertainment, face painting, kid’s races and the annual spectacular tug of war.
Sarah said: “It was a great opportunity for me to help out as well as talk to people about the forthcoming election.
“Awareness is so low that most of the discussions are about what’s actually happening, when it’s happening and why it’s happening. At the moment I feel more like I’m carrying out a public service than a campaign.
“It’s fine with me as connecting with the community is going to be part and parcel of the role and hopefully all this work will help to improve the turnout for the vote.”
