Academy pupils excel in regional maths event

THREE Knutsford Academy pupils impressed judges in a maths competition.

There were 1,800 entries for the MEM Challenge (Years 7 and 8) and 600 entries for the Senior Challenge (Years 9 and 10) from more than 100 schools in the north west.

Iona McGarvey, year 7, came third in the challenge, while Alex Price in Year 8 received a certificate of Merit in the challenge.

Joseph Adams in Year 9 came second in the senior challenge and he was then entered in to the European Kangaroo which was a one hour multiple choice paper taken by 25 countries throughout Europe.

Joe came in the top 25 per cent of entrants and was awarded a Certificate of Merit.
