Investigation launched after fire at award-winning Over Peover nursery

AN investigation is being launched after a blaze broke out at an award-winning nursery in Over Peover.

The fire involved a large commercial greenhouse at Chrysanthemums Direct in Long Lane just after 5am yesterday, Tuesday.

Fire crews from Knutsford, Holmes Chapel and Middlewich were on scene.

A spokesman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “The fire involved the plastic lining for windows.

“Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus using two hose reels entered the greenhouse to extinguish the fire.

“Firefighters isolated the electric and oil supply to the building, and used three large fans to help extinguish the fire and remove smoke from the building.”

Chrysanthemums Direct won a gold medal at this year’s RHS Tatton Show.

When contacted, Trevor Lawrence, who works there, said everything at the nursery was OK.
