Sanofi workforce in Holmes Chapel set to expand with asthma treatment deal

THE workforce of a healthcare firm in Holmes Chapel is set to expand after being approved to produce a new asthma treatment.

Flutiform aerosol inhaler is the first new product to be manufactured at the site since 2004.

Jean Stephenson, director of Sanofi in London Road, described it as the beginning of a new era as the decision represents €6m investment in the plant by drug developer SkyePharma.

He added: “We are proud to be the only global manufacturing site for Flutiform and feel that it will contribute towards our vision of Holmes Chapel as a centre of excellence for the manufacture of inhalation products with a future we all want to be a part of.

“As demand increases we expect further recruitment will be required to fill additional roles that will be created.

“The workforce for Flutiform is expected to double in the next few years – creating more jobs and opportunities for the local people of Cheshire.”
