Milk boss - ‘We must reflect lower returns’

A ROBERT Wiseman Dairies boss said everything possible was done to minimise the reduction in milk price.

The company has given its dairy suppliers a month’s notice of a 1.7p per litre drop in milk price from August 1 due to a collapse in the value of cream. It follows a 2p reduction in June, when it was hoped the market would recover.

Pete Nicholson, milk procurement director at Robert Wiseman Dairies, said: “We know this news will come as a major disappointment to Wiseman Milk Group members.

“We have done everything we can to minimise the reduction in our farm gate milk price, but we must now reflect the substantially lower returns from the markets which we serve.”
