LATEST: Overturned lorry closes A556

AN overturned lorry on the A556 southbound has closed the road at the Mere crossroads causing traffic to back up in Knutsford.
The incident, which happened earlier today, has closed the road from the crossroads to junction 19 of the M6.
As a result traffic is being diverted through Knutsford and there is no access to the M6 southbound at junction 19.
Police told the Guardian the southbound sliproad to the M6 at junction 19 would have to be resurfaced over night as a result of the collision.
Officers were unable to confirm when the road would reopen.
