Fun doesn’t end at the finish
2:20pm Thursday 21st June 2012 in News
AS the countdown starts to Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life in Tatton Park organisers are inviting everyone to join them on the big day.
More than 5,000 women – including cancer survivors and people taking part in memory or celebration or their loved ones – will walk, jog or run the five-kilometre route at Tatton Park on Saturday, and Sunday.
However this year on the Saturday the fun and fundraising won’t stop at the finish line. Participants are being urged to stay at the event once they have completed the course so they can experience the unique atmosphere and create precious memories together with their family and friends. For the first time there will be a range of activities on offer so they can enjoy themselves while raising money for the fight against cancer.
The fun and games will include a children’s area with crazy golf and football shoot-outs.
Debbie McConnell, event manager for Race for Life in the north west, said: “Many people already come along to cheer on their friends, wives, girlfriends, mums and daughters but then go home.
“Yet at Race for Life the emotion and fundraising doesn’t stop at the Finish Line.
“So this year, we are encouraging participants and their supporters to stay at the event and enjoy their achievement together.”
