Two weeks to go to nominate your hero

Two weeks to go to nominate your hero Two weeks to go to nominate your hero

THERE are just two weeks to go to nominate your Knutsford Community Hero 2012 and be in with a chance of sharing the £1,100 prize.

The Guardian has teamed up with local company Equilibrium Asset Management to recognise and reward those who make Knutsford a better place to live.

To help you we’re listing some of our ideas on what makes a Community Hero, but our winner doesn’t have to do something on this list. In fact, they can do anything at all which you think improves our town.

Here’s some suggestions – being a helpful neighbour, running errands and caring for the elderly on their street, volunteering at social clubs and societies, helping with children’s sports and activity clubs, raising money for charity, helping disadvantaged people in the community, keeping Knutsford clean and tidy – our hero might even be the local lollipop person or the helpful, friendly postie.

We want to hear your suggestions of who makes our town great. The winner of Community Hero 2012 will receive a cash prize of £500 and a further £500 to donate to a charity of their choice. There is also £100 up for grabs for the person who nominates our overall winner.

Guardian editor Keith Morris will be joined on the judging panel by Knutsford Town Mayor, Clr Stewart Gardiner and managing director of Equilibrium Asset Management, Colin Lawson.

Colin said: “We meet many Knutsford people in our office, and really notice the strong sense of pride they have in their community. That’s why we’re pleased to support this campaign, and I’m looking forward to reading through all the entries.

“Even the simplest things such as running errands can make a huge difference to people’s lives, so we want to hear about anything that people do for their community. I can’t wait to present the prize to our first Community Hero.”

Fill out for the form and send it, along with why you think your nominee deserves to win, to the Knutsford Guardian, 3-6 Theatre Court, London Road, Northwich, CW9 5HB.
