THE son of a bankrupt former Knutsford councillor has put together a £25m takeover bid for Portsmouth Football Club.

Thomas Lever, whose father is David Lever, of Legh Road, is said to be in ‘advanced talks’ to buy the club in crisis.

The 21-year-old met with Portmouth’s former director and the chief executive officer Peter Storrie, administrator Andrew Andronikou and Balram Chainrai, who currently owns the club.

Portsmouth FC went into administation on February 26 after it emerged that the club was around £135m in debt.

It is understood that a financial agreement is in place for the beginning of September.

Thomas appeared on the MTV show ‘Living on The Edge’ in 2007 which was about rich young people living in Cheshire’s ‘Golden Triangle’.

His father David was made bankrupt on July 5 at Manchester County Court.
