Going green to bag gold at Tatton show

THE RHS Tatton Show proved to be a successful one for Knutsford’s gardening community – with exhibitors scooping an impressive haul of medals.

Around 100,000 people admired the floral extravaganza at Tatton Park during the four days from July 21 to 25.

Visitors from across the region packed into the annual Royal Horticultural Society’s Flower Show at the park over the last week – despite the rain.

Sunday was one of the busiest days, with 18,500 people – many hoping to bag a bargain as plants, trees and furniture from the show gardens and stalls were sold off.

Chrysanthemums Direct, Plantation, The Black Rose and Outdoor Chic all sealed gold medals for their exhibits.

Cheshire East Council’s display won a gold medal for an exhibit in the flowerbed competition for ‘Cheshire Cheese Please’ – a giant cheeseboard made entirely of flora and fauna.

Fryers Nurseries picked up a silver, while Tatton Park won silver for its back-to-back garden built by head gardener Sam Youd.

Tatton Garden Society also clinched a silver while the Cheshire Girlguides claimed bronze.
