KNUTSFORD Guardian chief reporter Andrew McCreaddie, his sister Katie McCreaddie and former deputy editor Andrew Moores are to take part in the 13.1-mile Great North Run in September.

The team wants to raise £1,000 for Bliss and the work it does for babies who are born too soon.

It is a subject that means a lot to Andrew and Katie McCreaddie's family.

Also, Andrew McCreaddie himself was a premature baby by eight weeks.

Back in November 1979 the technology wasn't quite as good.

But the doctors and nurses still managed to keep Andrew healthy and eventually send him home with his mum and dad.

That is something Bliss wants to help achieve for more premature babies and their parents.

"It would mean a great deal if people could help out by sponsoring us," said Andrew McCreaddie.

"Every donation helps us get closer to that target - which seems a long way off at the moment," said Andrew.

The team will post regular updates, pictures and video on this website - so keep coming back to find out more.
