THE vivid imaginations of two Knutsford children will be in full bloom in July.

Olivia Jackson from Egerton Primary School and Edward Stone from St Vincent’s School have won a competition to promote the RHS Flower Show.

Their designs are now being used to transform the flowerbeds of two roundabouts in the town into floral adverts for the annual show at Tatton Park.

Olivia, eight, dreamed up a bee surrounded by flowers for her Toft roundabout design.

In her application form, she wrote: “Bees are so important and they are in danger. Also I really like insects.

“I would like the bee to be made up of lots of small yellow and black flowers surrounded by lots of big sweet-smelling bright coloured flowers.”

Edward, nine, came up with a vegetable patch design.

He wrote: “Lots of people are growing their own vegetables because of the credit crunch. They are fresh and it is fun.”

The roundabouts are almost finished and took about six hours to plant up.

Some of the plants are already showing colour but will be at their best just in time for the show.

Kris Hulewicz, manager of the RHS Show, said: “Knutsford is so much a part of the flower show and has been for the last 10 years.

“I am keen that the community does take part in the show as much as possible.

“Gardening is hard work but it’s also fun and therapeutic. If it’s good for the adults, then it’s good for the kids.”
