Earlier today the Guardian revealed the BNP had gained a seat in the European elections in the voting region that covers the Knutsford area.
Leader Nick Griffin will now be one of eight MEPs representing the North West in Brussels.
The British National Party got 132,094 votes in the region, giving it one seat in the European Parliament.
Its vote in the North West was up 1.6 per cent when the results were announced in the early hours of Monday.
Meanwhile, the Conservatives got three seats in the North West with 423,174 votes, which was up 1.5 per cent.
Robert Atkins, Sajjad Karim and Jacqueline Foster were elected.
There was no change in their number of seats compared to the last European election.
Labour received two seats in the region with 336,831 votes - down 6.9 per cent. It lost one seat.
Arlene McCarthy and Brian Simpson were elected.
UKIP got one North West seat with 261,740 votes, which was 3.7 per cent more than the last election.
There was no change in its number of seats. Paul Nuttall was elected.
The Lib-Dems also received one seat with 235,639 votes - down 1.6 per cent - and there was no change in their number of seats. Chris Davies was elected.
The Green Party came sixth with 127,133 votes - up 2.1 per cent - but failed to win a seat, as did the other parties in the North West.
At the polls on June 4 the percentage turnout for the local counting area for Cheshire East Borough Council was 33.4 per cent.
Members of the BNP had campaigned in the Knutsford area in the run-up to the European election polls on June 4.
At the time Mr Griffin told the Guardian that members planned to target the town and other places in the area.
Activists handed out leaflets in the town centre and posted them through residents’ doors.
Last week a Tabley and High Legh vicar urged voters not to support the BNP in the European elections.
The Reverend Michael Cavanagh said the far right group’s views were the total opposite of his idea of being British.
But on Monday the BNP gained its first two Brussels seats in the European elections.
The Knutsford Guardian published the results on knutsfordguardian.co.uk An online reader, who goes by the name Billinge, commented on the proposals.
He said the result would have been different if more people had voted.
“When will people get rid of this idea – ‘there's no point voting, my vote won't count for anything’? Well, over 68 per cent did not vote and look what we have,” he wrote.
“Less than two per cent of those who could vote voted for BNP. If two thirds of the electorate had voted instead of watching Big Brother, perhaps the BNP would not now be representing us.”
