JUMBLE sale organiser Barbara Horry is hoping for a great turnout on Saturday for her final fundraiser.

Barbara, 87, from Mobberley, has raised more than £50,000 for 1st Mobberley Scouts with the annual jumble sale at The Victory Hall in Mobberley.

Saturday’s sale, which starts at 2pm, will be her 48th and final jumble sale, and Barbara will be running the event - wearing her Queen Bee T-shirt.

“I collect jumble over the year at my house, and we have more than usual for Saturday’s sale,” she said.

“I am hoping there is going to be a big queue outside the hall, and there will be a huge variety of things, including clothes, bric-a-brac, pictures, handbags, shoes, toys, hats and books.

“It is £1 to come in, and 60p for tea and biscuits. The people on the day who help me are friends, and although I will miss the sale I’m going on 88, and organising it is quite demanding.”

Refreshments will be available, and anything which is unsold at the end of the sale will be donated to St Paul’s Church at Salford.

Last year’s sale raised about £4,000 for the Scouts, and Barbara plans to continue organising her table top sales in aid of the group.

Barbara was awarded the Mobberley Community Award in 2016, and the Silver Acorn from the Chief Scout in 2014.
