ST LUKE’S Church Hall in Holmes Chapel was ‘buzzing’ with conversation at a popular afternoon tea.

The tea was served by The Cobbles Tea Room to the Afternoon Group of Holmes Chapel Mothers' Union.

“Mothers Union meetings are always popular and usually involve an outing or food,” said branch treasurer Dorothy Wood.

“Word got around about the afternoon tea, and numbers gradually increased.

“It was a pleasure to welcome, as great supporters of our events, Betty Ford, Bob Monks, Jack Kelly and Ray Davies.

“The waitress for the afternoon was Beth Arton, who did a splendid job of making sure everyone had all they wanted and kept everyone supplied with cups of tea.

“The hall was buzzing with chatter as everyone enjoyed each other's company as well as the delicious tea.

“Thanks and appreciation goes to Janet and her team at The Cobbles.”

Holmes Chapel Mothers Union meets at the church hall on the second Tuesday of the month at 7.45pm and the third Wednesday of the month at 2pm.

The meeting on Wednesday, September 19 at 2pm will be a Bible investigation when members search for items of clothing mentioned in the Bible.

If you would like to join the Mothers Union at this meeting, or any other, please come along - you will be given a warm welcome.
