KNUTSFORD Town Ranger Bob Garner is helping the town look its best with the support and encouragement of the public.

Bob has been in the job for only six months, but in that short period has become a popular and highly valued member of the community.

Before taking up the role Bob had not used twitter, but since becoming the town ranger he has embraced it to help him in his work, receiving scores of requests from the public for areas which need attention.

Bob, who lives in Knutsford, has immense pride in the town and his job, and has built up a 660-strong following on twitter.

People can see the results of all his hard work on his twitter page in the numerous before-and-after pictures he has taken.

Bob is employed by Knutsford Town Council, and the range of jobs he carries out includes clearing weeds and leaves, cleaning road signs, cutting back branches obscuring signs and painting benches.

“Knutsford is a beautiful town, and to give something back is really special,” said Bob, 48, who was a parks and countryside ranger.

“It’s a lovely job being the town ranger, and I run the twitter page to let people know what I’m doing, and try to make my tweets a little bit fun.

“It’s really nice to get feedback from the public – people beep their car horns and wave.

“It’s really sweet to work somewhere where you can enhance the community and get people caring about the area.

“You always have the best feeling when you give something back to the community, and I concentrate on areas of the town which are well used.

“The beauty of the job is that it’s so varied, and can range from clearing weeds and debris around traffic islands to cutting back branches obscuring road signs and painting benches.

“I work hard to try to keep the town clean, and one of the things that gets on my nerves is litter.

“If anyone has something they would like to me to look into they can tweet me at @townranger or contact the town council by calling 01565 653929.”
