EMERGENCY services are dealing with a crash and fuel spillage on the southbound M6.

An ambulance has been called to the scene, with traffic currently held heading south between junction 19 for Knutsford and 18 for Middlewich and Holmes Chapel.

There are currently delays of an hour and a half.

A Cheshire Police spokesman said: "At 10.38 today, Friday June 22, officers were called to reports of a collision on the M6 southbound between junction 19 Knutsford and 18 Middlewich.

"The collision involves four cars and a HGV. The petrol tank has ruptured as a result of the collision, causing diesel to spill out onto the carriageway.

"There are not believed to be any serious injuries as a result of the incident, although ambulances have been called as a precautionary measure.

"There is currently a full closure in place on the southbound carriageway as a result of the collision."
