ROBERTS Bakery staff have lent a hand to a children’s charity, helping to transform a parking area for adapted minibuses.

Eight members of the Rudheath bakery’s ‘Little Treats’ team spent the day at The Children’s Adventure Farm Trust’s base near Knutsford, also finding time to help with preparations for a fundraising event.

CAFT provides holidays and day visits for ill, disabled and disadvantaged children from across the north west, hosting them at its 10-acre adventure farm.

Half of the Little Treats team spent the day with CAFT facilities supervisor Tom Lockett clearing an area to park the charity’s three minibuses.

The minibuses are a vital asset for the charity, enable it to pick up and drop off children of all abilities, including those in the biggest electric wheelchairs.

The team cleared bushes and weeds, and shored up the bank with recycled sleepers to create a parking area just for the buses.

Meanwhile, the other half of the team worked with events fundraiser Pippa Watton to prepare some special gifts for guests attending the charity’s ever-popular Ladies Lunch event, which took place Mere Golf Resort & Spa and raised £60,000.

Tom said: “The tasks given to the Little Treats team were absolutely essential, but ones we were struggling to get done ourselves. The guys from Roberts were brilliant, they worked so hard and we were amazed at how much work they got through.

Pippa added: “The support of companies such as Roberts is so important to us, they help us in so many ways and we really can’t thank them enough.

“It’s only with the support of our community that we can continue to change the lives of these amazing children.”

Roberts has been a supporter of the charity for many years, regularly donating bread products for the visiting children and for their many fundraising events and festive celebrations.

Rachel Dickinson from Roberts said: “We are really excited that we can help out at this fantastic charity in a hands-on manner.

“Opportunities to get involved with CAFT in this way provide staff with the chance to find out more about one of our main charities, as well as doing something incredibly positive for a great cause. It also allows people to get to know colleagues in a fun and rewarding way, away from the normal day to day routine.”
