Former Manchester United and England legend Steve Coppell will show memorabilia including shirts and medals during an open afternoon at Sharston House nursing home, in Knutsford, from 2pm to 4pm on Saturday, June 23.

The former World Cup player will open the free family event at the home in Manor Park South and give a short speech to introduce his display.

The event will have a fun horse racing theme with visitors invited to watch the Royal Sharston Diamond Stakes.

Deputy manager Diana Galatanu and nurse Kimberley Lawton will be among the 'jockeys' competing on inflatable horses, cheered on around the home and gardens by residents and visitors.

Activities coordinator Stacey Hinton said: “There will also be a tombola and lots of fun games, all with a horse racing theme, at which families can have a go.”

Canapes will be served throughout the event.

Miss Hinton said: “It will be a great opportunity for people to come and see Steve and I am sure the event will be a lot of fun for both visitors and our residents.“
